  • Blunt, multi-side holed, spring-loaded inner cannula extends beyond needlebevel; protects underlying tissue (lung) from further, inadvertent penetration
  • One-way duck bill valve in needle hub housing allows air and fluid to escape from the needle yet prevents atmospheric air from entering into the pleural space to prevent accidental pneumothorax during procedure
  • Color change indicator in needle hub housing provides direct visualization of the position of the cannula as the needle moves through the chest wall and into the pleural space
  • Polyurethane catheter material provides strength, softness, flexibility and resistance to thrombosis
  • Multiple side holes in distal catheter shaft increases surface area for drainage
  • Depth marks on catheter shaft provide assessment of catheter location during procedure
